In the Port of Taliarte (Telde-Spain) there is a series of scientific facilities distributed in various buildings, in addition to marine cages.
On the one hand, the building of the Marine Science and Technology Park (PCTM), the Complementary Module-1 of the PCTM, the Spanish Algae Bank, the building of the Highly Specialized Aquaculture and Biotechnology Service (SABE) and the marine cages.
All physical capital constitutes a unique structure of excellence in research recognized in the European Network of Research Infrastructures of Excellence in Aquaculture (http://www.aquaexcel2020.eu/) and in the MERIL Network of European Research Infrastructures of Excellence (https://portal.meril.eu/meril/), being the only aquaculture infrastructure on this portal.

The Spanish Bank of Algae (Banco Español de Algas, BEA) at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC) is a national service of R+D+i. The BEA’s basic objectives are the isolation, identification, characterization, conservation and supply of microalgae and cyanobacteria.

The Integral Service of Marine Technology (Servicio Integral de Tecnología Marina, SITMA) is an initiative launched by the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC) management of which was entrusted to the Canarian Scientific and Technological Park Foundation (FCPCT) in February 2016. Its purpose is to provide support to the scientific activity of at least 8 research groups and 3 university institutes in terms of infrastructure and technical support. At the same time, it aims to serve as a platform for different kind of services provision to external users in fields such as oceanography (physical, chemical and biological), marine biogeochemistry, ecology and marine biology, as well as marine technology (robotics and sensorics).
